Below is a list of frequently asked questions we most often get about solar for your home or business.

What are the financial advantages of solar energy?

When you install a solar energy system on your home or business, you protect yourself against rising electricity rates and save money on your power bills. The size of your system, utility rates, and solar policies in your area will dictate how much you can save, but getting solar is a worthwhile investment regardless of where you live.

What is net metering?
Net energy metering, or “NEM”, is a special billing arrangement that provides credit to customers with solar PV systems for the full retail value of the electricity their system generates. Under NEM, the customer’s electric meter keeps track of how much electricity is consumed by the customer, and how much excess electricity is generated by the system and sent back into the electric utility grid. Over a 12-month period, the customer has to pay only for the net amount of electricity used from the utility over-and-above the amount of electricity generated by their solar system (in addition to monthly customer transmission, distribution, and meter service charges they incur).
How does solar impact my property values?

Several studies have shown that homes with solar energy systems sell for more than homes without them especially in CA where buyers are willing to pay a premium for homes with solar already installed. Though, your property value will only increase if you own, rather than lease, your solar panel system.

Will I still get an electric bill if I have solar panels?

Unless your system includes battery storage and you are entirely off the power grid which is uncommon, you will still receive a bill from your utility. You can however decrease your bill as low as $0 each month as long as you install a solar panel system that matches your current energy needs.

What solar energy rebates and incentives are available?

A 30% federal tax credit is still available.

Do solar panels work in a blackout?

Yes! But only If you have a battery.

We do offer batteries as an option and can even install battery ready inverters at time of your system install. You can then add a battery at a later date if you want.
